For seven years, I worked as a special education teaching in New York City, a role that allowed me to support diverse learners and adapt to their individual needs. However, I eventually felt the need to explore a new path that would allow me to grow and apply my talents in a different way. UX Design became a natural choice because of its similarities to teaching; moving from a facilitator of learning experiences to a facilitator of user experiences.
As a special education teacher, I approached each lesson with what students needed to learn (a problem to solve), conducted research to understand different learning styles (user research), designed lessons (the solution), and iterated on those lessons based on student feedback (prototyping and testing).
In my free time, I love creating quality moments with my supportive friends and family. I also enjoy traveling, learning new languages, and working on self-improvement. Some of my most memorable travel experiences include celebrating Christmas in the Ecuadorian Amazon and exploring the Galapagos Islands. Currently, I’m learning both Spanish and German, and I’m a big believer in building small daily habits to create meaningful change, as inspired by Atomic Habits.
